Encouraged by increasing interest in local food and local farms, a growing number of farmers and ranchers throughout California are inviting the public to visit, taste, learn and enjoy participating in agricultural activities. The UC Small Farm Program is helping urban and suburban people find farms and ranches to visit with a refreshed, mobile-friendly statewide agritourism directory and calendar, www.calagtour.org. Now potential visitors can search the directory on their smart phones by California region, by county, or by activities offered. They can also easily browse upcoming festivals, tours, classes, farm dinners and other events.
The directory is free for working California farmers and ranchers to use, either to list their operation on an ongoing basis, or to promote one-time events open to the public on their farms or ranches. Please use the directory application or the event listing form to join the community.
The UC Small Farm Program is currently engaged in a social media promotion program (follow us & tag us on Twitter @CAagritourism) to encourage use of the directory, and has created a new, visitor-targeted Facebook page, California Agritourism Adventures, to help share the excitement. Enjoy your next agritourism adventure!
