NEW! Morning Mixer: Growing on Solid Ground

NEW! Morning Mixer: Growing on Solid Ground

This gathering will provide time for beginning farmers, landowners, experienced farmers, and service providers to get together over morning coffee and discuss some key challenges–and innovative solutions–that we face in the sustainable agriculture foodscape. Join us in a friendly forum to share resources and forge new connections, as well as participate in focused discussions that can be carried on throughout the California Small Farm Conference. Choose from a variety of topics, by table, where group discussion will include a facilitator with knowledge and experience in the topic, and be directed by attendee interest. Topics will be:

  • Farmland Leases: Issues and Innovative Tenure Solutions, Liya Schwartzman, California FarmLink Central Valley Program Coordinator
  • Access to Land: Farmers and Landowners Share Common Concerns, Frederick Smith, California FarmLink North Coast Program Coordinator
  • Farmland and Business Succession: Passing the Farm to the Next Generation, Rosie and Ward Burroughs, Burroughs Family Farms
  • How to Make Good Financial Decisions, Belle Davis, Farm Loan Manager, USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA)
  • On-Farm Training—Apprenticeships, Incubators, and Mentorships, Maureen Thompson, California Farm Academy, Farm Incubator Manager
